Iran, China ink extradition agreement
The Deputy Justice Minister for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdolali Mirkuhi, met in Beijing on Wednesday with Xu Hong, a counselor with China's Department of Treaty and Law under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"The Chinese party is considering Iran's proposal over the extradition of criminal suspects and we hope the draft will be finalized by officials of the two countries," said Mirkuhi.
The document will be signed by justice ministers of both countries after first undergoing a legal review process.
Legal analysts suggest the finalization of the agreement will pave the way for further judicial ties between Iran and China.
According to the draft agreement, the two sides have committed themselves to repatriating suspected perpetrators to their countries of origin.
